 Math's day 2

This is more math's that I did today, it was more fractions and i think i'm starting to understand it more. I used division and times tables to find the answer, I also solved it in my book because i think that it's easier to do in a book.

What's in a name

Use these floral name tags at your next big event! | Label ...

Whats in a name

"What's in a name" is something that room 11 did, it was to describe our name and the meaning behind it. We had to ask our family's about how we got our name and what the name means in our culture or religion or  what the back story is to our name. My Name is Kodiann and this is the meaning behind my name.

"The name Kodiann was given to me by my brother and uncle. I was born 10 months after my uncle passed away and when I was born my parents didn’t have a name for me. But the night I was born my brother woke up saying that my uncle (Wayne) (the one that had just passed) had come to my brother in his sleep telling him to name his sister Kodi, So to me the name Kodi represents my uncle. ‘La’ is my nana's name and means sun in Samoan, ‘Tuivale’ is my great grandmother's name that was passed down to my nana, but it's ‘Latui’ for short. Karl and Heppleston are both my parents' names."

That is the meaning of my name

Senior Friendship book

Senior Friendship book

Last week we made a Senior Friendship book, everyone created there own google doc and answered questions that would help the reader find out more about them. It asked questions about our family and friends, when our birthday is and what some of our favourite things are. There were some questions that you really had to think about, such as having to describe yourself in three words and what you would do if you were the teacher for a day.  this is my one.

Process of Mummification

For the past 2 weeks we have been learning about Ancient Egyptians and the process of Mummification, we made our own clay Mummies then wrapped them in string. We made our own writing about the process of Mummification to connect to the clay mummies that we made. As we got more into learning about it me and my group made a pyramid cake.
this is a photo of the cake that we made, and also the writing I did about the process of Mummification. The process of Mummification

Here is a picture of the pig that was cooked in the Umu, A Samoan celebration us as a school got to celebrate. There was a lot that went into making the day so good. a lot of people were there to help out.

At the beginning the day we got taught how to peel the taro and how to peel the bananas the right way, learning how to peel the bananas was probably harder than the potato. later on in the day the girls went to the kitchen and were helping to make sapasui, we were helping to cut up the chicken which was kinda hard, but by the end of the day it payed off and it was cool to see everyone try the food that we helped make.

For our first Tech call we learnt about leafs and structure that feeds them and protects them. We learnt that even though a leaf is very thin a lot goes into them, A leaf has something called a waxy cuticle  witch keeps it safe from unwanted bacteria.

Reflecting on life

This week we have been put on lock-down for the next 4, so I have had to do my work at home. We jump on a call with miss at 8:50 and shell tell us what to do for the day, yesterday Mr victor sent use a writing challenge. He asked us 3 Questions, Here is my response.

Questions:
  1. For what in life are you most grateful? Why?
I'm most grateful for my family. I'm grateful for my family because of
everything they do for me, and putting up with me.
My family has done so much for me, they put a roof over my head and
I'm grateful for that. My family is a part of my identity and they have given
me a culture that I'm proud of.

  1. What do you value most in a friendship? Why?
To me Loyalty, Trust and honesty are the most important values to have in
a friendship. Loyalty is important because it means always having your friends’
back and sticking up for them no matter what.
Trust because you have to know that you can tell your friends anything,
Honesty because your friends are your best friends and you should be
comfortable telling them anything.

  1. What would a perfect day for you be? Details!

Having a stress free day with my family, taking my dogs to the beach and
spending the day there, getting fish & chips for lunch and having a swim.
Then coming home and just chilling and watch some movies.

last week we had to write about identity and what it means to us to me identity is to embrace my culture and where I come from. To me it’s also about what you celebrate and your religion and what you believe in. It’s about your characteristics and your personality.” that is what I wrote, I wanted to talk about culture and religion because as a Samoan church is very important to my culture and my nana.
